Ambidextrous Y Vegetable Peeler and Cheese Shaver with sharper than steel ceramic blade. The blade is reversible to accomodate both lefty and righty peeling preferences. The colorful Y peeler is excellent for making elegant long cheese and vegetable shavings, and
for peeling longer vegetables very efficiently. Approx 7" long.
Ceramic blades are not only 40% harder than steel, almost never requiring sharpening, they are also chemically inert. This means that vegetables and cheeses peeled with this blade will stay fresh much longer as there is no metal oxidation process. Lighter than steel, ceramic blades are also cleaner and denser, so that odors don't transfer from one food item to the next.

The
stylish French kitchenware company, Mastrad, has been revolutionizing
the world of the kitchen since 1994, when their Deos stainless steel
soap won the French Coucours Leprine award. Now on display at the New
York MOMA, the Deos was the first in a series of award-winning concepts
brought into professional and home kitchens by Mastrad.
The Y
peeler is part of the internationally known "Orka by Mastrad" product
line. The name came about when the founder asked his young son what to
name the company's (now famous) silicone oven glove. When the dad held
up a hand wearing the new glove, the boy (who had recently been reading
a story with his dad about a whale) excitedly replied "Orca!" |

Features
- What makes this peeler left-handed?
- Generally European lefties and many professional chefs peel towards themselves, while American lefties more often peel away from themselves. This ambidextrous peeler solves this problem with an ultra-hard reversible ceramic blade, so that it works for lefties and righties, whether they peel away from or towards themselves. The blade can removed from the peeler and turned around to suit any user.
