Why did Jimi Hendrix smash up his guitar at the end of his performance? Maybe because he was a lefty playing a right-handed guitar! Hendrix played his guitars upside down and backwards – no wonder he was frustrated! In fact, until recently, left-handed guitars were custom-made and very expensive, so all lefty guitarists had to learn on righty instruments, usually strung backwards.
Our Glen Burton Dreadnought acoustic guitar is a recent design from Southern California, an inexpensive, high quality starter guitar designed especially for lefties. Named for a legendary Malibu surfer/guitarist (think “Wipe-Out”), Glen Burton full scale guitars are built to hold their tune. The guitar is 41” (full scale), with phospher bronze strings, a spruce top, basswood back and sides, catalpa neck, and rosewood bridge and finger board.
This guitar is full size, and priced for the beginning lefty player. Price includes a black nylon gig bag. We also sell a lefty chord book that’s perfect for this guitar.
