I am left handed but use a peeler peeling away from me. I had already learned at a gourmet cooking shop that European peelers are designed to be used away from the body. That means, I learned, that I need to buy a right-handed peeler European peeler to be able to peel left-handed. Unfortunately, I forgot this lesson. As a consequence, I gave my new left-handed peelers to a right-handed European. A lesson to be passed on to American buyers. However, the Westmark peeler is of superior quality and I still have and use the first one I bought (right-handed) in 1993.
